Fireplace Background

I squeezed in one last project for the year using Fireplace Background rubber stamp from Little Miss Muffet Stamps.  I colored it using Polychromos Pencils.  I don't like this one as much as the last Fireplace Background card I colored (I don't think anything I can do will compare to that one in a long time).  But I learned a few things from this - so that's a good thing.  While I was working out the hard shadows from the fireplace, I realized that the ones further away from the source would need to be longer and not has harsh.  Something to know for the next time.

I also used the Jolly Word Chipboard from Make it Crafty for the sentiment and colored it to match the green stocking.

Polka Dot Pals Lirienne

This is Polka Dot Pals Lirienne from Little Miss Muffet Stamps that I used for an eye and face tutorial (a bonus below).  It was fun to use these colors and I'm always a sucker for images with books.  This has been one of my favorites for a while and I had a hard time waiting to post it.  So I hope you enjoy it too!

Come enter in one of your projects into the Anything Goes challenge at Little Miss Muffet Stamps.  Any stamp, any theme, any project!

Here are the two step-by-step tutorials I did with this image.  The first was how to color the eyes.  I basically follow these few steps anytime but just change the colors a little. Lots of times I wait until the whole face is done before doing the eye.  This helps for when I've chosen colors that were too light.  When that happens, then I make it darker at the top otherwise I think she's a bit too wide-eyed.

Here's the other step-by-step that shows how I build the face.  I only use a couple colors but layer it on while blending and blending.  Hope it helps.  If you are looking for something in between a blank face and this, check out the Polka Dot Pals Add-On Faces, available in both digital and rubber.

Love You S'more

Merry Christmas!  For this project I used Love You S'more and Sealed With A Kiss from Lawn Fawn.  The scene was created with the metal dies and the stars were from the Mini Stars Chipboard Tinkling set from Make it Crafty.

Swings 'n Slides Fairy

Here's Swings 'n Slides Fairy from Little Miss Muffet Stamps that I used on this project. I also used this one for a step-by-step tutorial, which I added below so you can pin or bookmark it if you'd like.

The Snowflakes Chipboard are from Make it Crafty and are always fun to add to a project.  I tried to color these white with the Faber-Castell Gelatos Double Scoop stick but that stuff smeared and got all over.  I don't know what that is actually used for but not what I was expecting.

Here's the side-by-side that you can see the colored version and non-colored version. I stamped it in gray and then I was able to change the eye a little so I could add more color.  This also shows the fur vest and shoes, which has a how-to down below.

Agent Eclair Dropping

This is Agent Eclair Dropping from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and is from the retired collection Operation Treehouse.  There are a whole bunch of retiring stamps and products in the Retiring Products section of the store - which includes a bunch of stamps that can't be restocked or manufactured anymore.  Grab them while you can!

I love the Stitched Mountain Borders from Lawn Fawn which created this scene and several of my other recent projects.

Critters in the Forest

For this project I used Critters in the Forest and Love You S'more from Lawn Fawn and the Merry Word Chipboard from Make it Crafty.  I used some new metal dies to create the winter scene.  Since it was a Christmas card, I wrapped the marshmallow into a gift.

The word chipboards from Make it Crafty and so fun to color and the double layers make it look snazzy on the cards.  I'm going to have to get some more.  :D

Polka Dot Pals Chrissie

This is Polka Dot Pals Chrissie from Little Miss Muffet Stamps which is the one that I used for the face tutorial.  I included that at the bottom so you can pin or bookmark it if you'd like.

For this image I tried to change the light source to come from the lantern.  The clothing was essay to manage but the face was the most difficult.  I pulled up a few images in Google and then tried my best to go against habit and change the way I colored the nose. It isn't perfect but I like how it turned out.

Coloring the faces is the best part about these Polka Dot Pals for me and it give me an opportunity to experiment.  Here you can see the side-by-side of the before and after.  The Polka Dot Pals also have ready-made faces that you can add if coloring the whole face is a bit scary.  (the Add-On Faces come in both rubber and digital too!)

Shirley

Here's a dryer wool ball that I felted a face head and tale on so it would look like Shirley from Shaun the Sheep.  Such a fun show to watch and now this gal and tumble around all day . . . or at least on laundry days.

Love You S'more

For this project I used Love You S'more stamp from Lawn Fawn plus some die cuts from various companies.  The items were stamped on Make It Crafty white paper and then colored with Copics.  I even colored the tree cut out and made it look like an Aspen tree.  This was something simple to color and loads of fun building a since with the metal dies.  This isn't something I typically do so it was a bit awkward but still enjoyable.

Roses of Love

I restocked some Make it Crafty stamps in the store but I splurged and kept one for myself.  This is Roses of Love colored on Gina K cardstock.  I wanted to focus on using Distress Inks for the background so I kept the rest of the card simple.

Distress Inks: Hickory Smoke, Iced Spruce, Bundled Sage And Peeled Paint
Copics: YG97, 95, 93, 91, V28, 25, 22, 20, BV11

Oak Tree Girl

This cute stamp is Oak Tree Girl from Wee/Whimsy Stamps.  I had fun coloring this one and adding all the autumn leaves.  I've been looking for robins when I travel because I remember them from when I was a kid.  I don't see them here in Texas or maybe they are just seasonal.  Most of the birds that I colored in the past were blue so this was a nice change.

The face is actually the best part for enjoyment.  I love to give extra details and to brighten the eyes so this shows a comparison of a before and after.  The original eyes were used for the pupils and I built up the rest around them with Copics.

Miss Muffet Note Book

I had to keep one of the new note books for myself and even got some note books for my kiddos.  Here's a label idea that I typed up and clipped onto the front.  It can also be clipped to the inside.  Then that clip can also be used to hold notes once the book is in use.

This is great for notes, ideas, memories or stories - grab one for yourself or as a gift at LMMS.

Bob the Yeti

This is Bob the Yeti from Yumi & Fumi Handmade stamps and I colored him after seeing Emma's awesome rainbow monster.  I loved how she colored her minister and it inspired me so much that I actually colored.  Oh, yes, I did!  I don't think mine is as well done as hers but I still like how it turned out.

I colored him with Prismacolor Pencils on Kraft paper can cased Emma's card design.  That design made it easy for me to focus on the coloring and not worry so much about the card.  Thank you Emma for the inspiration!

Honey Run

I reached for a rubber stamp to create a guy card this week for the new challenge at LMMS.  It's anything goes and you can use any stamp - so pop on over and share one of your projects today.

The stamp I used is Honey Run which is a DoveArt Designs stamp by Jennifer Dove.

My desk is a mess right now, no surprise, so I mainly grabbed what was on the surface.  This included the back part of a map which listed city names and pages.  I would have used the front but it was too colorful for the papers I selected, however, this side works great.

Platypus and Turtle

I was working on a few felt friends this weekend and wanted to share them.  The platypus is a pattern from the book is "Pipsqueaks, Itsy-Bitsy Felt Creations to Stitch & Love" by Sally Dixon.  Then from that, I altered the idea and made up the turtle.  These little critters are only about 2.5 inches.
